Purpose-built security for small sites

The Juniper SSG 5 Secure Services Gateway combines firewall, routing and LAN/WAN connectivity in a single appliance for small branch offices and small businesses. It delivers integrated threat protection including antivirus, anti-spyware, anti-phishing, anti-spam and web content filtering. Stateful protocol signatures and deep inspection defend against worms, trojans, malware and denial-of-service attacks. Encryption uses 3DES (168-bit) and AES standards.

Eight 10/100 ports and optional wireless

The unit provides eight Ethernet ports running at 10/100Base-TX for wired connectivity. An IEEE 802.11 a/b/g wireless LAN option is supported for sites that need Wi-Fi access. Protocols HCRP and SPP are implemented for high-availability and redundancy configurations. Setup requires familiarity with Juniper ScreenOS or the web interface; misconfigured policies or license activation are the most common deployment issues.

Sustained inspection throughput for steady traffic

Under continuous load the appliance maintains deep-inspection scanning, TCP reassembly and protocol anomaly detection without dropping to burst-only performance. DoS and DDoS mitigation, malformed-packet protection and replay-attack prevention operate consistently across long sessions. The fixed 10/100 interfaces cap maximum throughput, so environments needing higher sustained bandwidth will require a larger platform.
