Outdoor Gigabit Wi-Fi Access Point

The HPE Aruba AP-277 is a purpose-built outdoor wireless access point rated for extreme temperatures, moisture and airborne contaminants. It delivers concurrent dual-radio operation with a maximum data rate of 1.3 Gbps on the 5 GHz band and 600 Mbps on the 2.4 GHz band. Integrated industrial-strength surge protection shields all electrical interfaces. This unit suits network teams deploying reliable Wi-Fi across exposed campus or industrial sites.

PoE-Powered Rugged Deployment

The AP-277 draws power over Ethernet, removing the need for local mains wiring at the mounting point. Its fully sealed enclosure withstands persistent precipitation and wide temperature swings without additional weatherproofing kits. The design frees installers from sourcing outdoor-rated power supplies or conduit runs. Surge protection on every port reduces the risk of damage from transient voltages common in exposed locations.

Silent Passive Thermal Design

With no moving parts, the access point operates silently in noise-sensitive outdoor areas. Heat dissipates through the rugged chassis, which is engineered to function across the harsh environmental range specified for the 270 series. Power consumption stays within standard PoE limits, simplifying switch budget planning. The sealed construction prevents dust or insect ingress that could degrade thermal performance over time.

Questions about this item

What limits sustained throughput on the AP-277?

The 5 GHz radio tops out at 1.3 Gbps and the 2.4 GHz radio at 600 Mbps, so aggregate client traffic cannot exceed those rates.

How does the JW180A handle heat and noise during continuous outdoor operation?

The sealed, fanless enclosure is rated for extreme temperatures and precipitation, so it runs silently and relies on passive cooling.

Which mounting hardware or cabling must I already have to install the AP-277?

The unit includes industrial-strength surge protection on its Ethernet port, so you only need a compatible PoE injector or switch and standard outdoor mounting brackets.
