HPE Networking Instant On 1830 24-Port 12-Port PoE 195W Switch

SKU CH-EYN6-36Z3J

A 24-port Gigabit smart-managed switch with 12 PoE ports delivering 195 W total power and two SFP uplinks, managed via mobile app or cloud portal

  • 12 PoE ports power access points and cameras directly
  • 195 W PoE budget supports multiple devices simultaneously
  • Smart-managed Layer 2 switching via mobile app or cloud portal
  • 24 Gigabit ports plus 2 SFP uplinks for fibre connectivity
  • Fan-less design keeps operation silent in quiet offices

Smart switch for small business networks

The HPE Instant On 1830 is a smart-managed Layer 2 Ethernet switch built for small businesses that need an affordable, easy-to-deploy wired foundation. It delivers 24 Gigabit ports with 12 ports supporting Class 4 Power over Ethernet, providing a cost-efficient way to power access points, cameras, or phones from the network cable.

Fits a quiet rack or desktop with uplinks

The unit is fan-less for silent operation in acoustically sensitive spaces such as open offices or meeting rooms. Two dedicated 1G SFP fiber ports give you uplink flexibility to aggregate traffic toward a core switch or router without consuming copper ports. Management is handled through the Aruba Instant On mobile app, cloud portal, or a local web GUI, so no separate controller appliance is required.

Steady throughput with a fixed PoE budget

The 195 W PoE budget is shared across the 12 powered ports and does not fluctuate with fan speed because there is no fan. Under sustained load the switch maintains its Layer 2 switching capacity and PoE delivery within its thermal design, avoiding the throttling that can occur in actively cooled units when dust builds up. The 24-port non-PoE variant in the same series is also fan-less for consistent silent performance.

Questions about this item

How many devices can I power simultaneously with the 195 W PoE budget across the 12 PoE ports?

The switch provides a 195 W PoE budget shared across 12 Class 4 PoE ports; you can power multiple access points, cameras or phones as long as their combined draw stays within 195 W.

Since the 24-port model is fan-less, does it run hot or draw more power when all ports are active all day?

The fan-less design means silent operation; power draw scales with PoE load up to the 195 W budget, and the switch is built for continuous operation in acoustically sensitive spaces.

Do I need an existing Aruba Instant On account or mobile app before the switch will pass traffic?

The switch forwards traffic out of the box; the Instant On mobile app or cloud portal is only required for configuration and monitoring, not for basic Layer 2 switching.
