An in-ceiling wireless access point delivering 1.7 Gbps peak throughput with dual-band 802.11ac and MU-MIMO for up to 255 clients per radio
The HPE IAP-305 (RW) is an indoor wireless access point designed for ceiling mounting in business environments. It supports concurrent dual-band operation on 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz with internal antennas and a single RJ-45 Ethernet port. The unit includes ceiling mounting clips and a reset button for straightforward deployment.
The 5 GHz radio delivers up to 1300 Mbps while the 2.4 GHz radio reaches 400 Mbps, combining for a 1.7 Gbps peak rate. Each radio supports up to 255 wireless clients and 16 BSSIDs. A single 1000Base-T uplink caps wired backhaul at 1 Gbps, which can become the bottleneck when many clients are active on the 5 GHz band.
This model replaces standalone single-band access points or early 802.11n deployments that lack MU-MIMO and beamforming. The jump is worth it when client density exceeds what legacy radios can handle or when features such as DFS support, ClientMatch roaming and BLE beaconing are required. It does not suit installations needing multi-gigabit uplinks or outdoor-rated enclosures.

| Brand name | HPE Instant On |
| Model name | IAP-305 (RW) |
| Part number | JX945A |
The JX945A is the international in-ceiling model with internal antennas and two mounting clips included.
That is the combined theoretical maximum across both radios; real-world throughput will be lower due to overhead and client mix.
The single gigabit Ethernet port caps wired uplink at 1 Gbps, so the 1.7 Gbps wireless peak cannot be fully sustained over the wire.
