16-core Datacenter add-on licence

This HPE P46212-B21 licence adds sixteen core entitlements to an existing Windows Server 2022 Datacenter installation. It is intended for IT administrators who are expanding the licensed core count on a physical host that already runs the base Datacenter edition.

Software entitlement for host expansion

The licence is a pure software entitlement; it requires no additional hardware slots, power connectors or cooling capacity. Applying the key unlocks the extra cores immediately, freeing the administrator from procuring new server hardware when workload density increases.

Sustained compliance under audit

Because the entitlement is perpetual, the additional cores remain licensed for the lifetime of the host regardless of how long workloads run at peak utilisation. It is not suited for environments that need temporary burst capacity or subscription-based licensing models.
