1.6 TB 24Gb/s SAS 2.5" enterprise SSD delivers 155000 random read and 165000 random write IOPS for mixed-use workloads
The HPE P49049-B21 is a 1.6 TB solid state drive built for 24Gb/s SAS infrastructure. It targets data centres running analytics, cloud, high performance compute, database and virtualization workloads. The mixed use rating balances read and write endurance for varied application demands.
The drive uses the SAS interface without moving parts, so acoustic output is negligible in a server chassis. Power draw scales with the 24Gb/s link speed and the quoted IOPS figures. No separate cooling hardware is required beyond standard enclosure airflow.
The 2.5" housing fits common drive bays and backplanes designed for SAS devices. A 24Gb/s SAS controller and updated server platform are needed to reach the full 155000 random read and 165000 random write IOPS. The drive remains compatible with 12Gb/s SAS ecosystems for deployment flexibility.

Slide the 2.5" drive into the hot-plug carrier until the connector seats firmly on the 24Gb/s SAS backplane; the step often missed is confirming the controller firmware supports 24Gb/s SAS-4 speeds before powering on.
The drive has no user-serviceable parts; replacement is required once the mixed-use endurance rating is reached or if SMART attributes report media wear or uncorrectable errors.
Sustained writes will hit the mixed-use endurance ceiling before the 155000 random read IOPS or 165000 random write IOPS limits are reached.
