HPE Smart Array P830 SAS RAID Controller

The HPE Smart Array P830 is a full-height, half-length PCIe 3.0 x8 RAID controller designed for select HPE ProLiant Gen8 servers. It provides 16 internal SAS or SATA lanes operating at 12 Gb/s or 6 Gb/s. A 4 GB flash-backed write cache protects data during power loss. The card occupies a standard plug-in slot.

Suits administrators adding RAID to Gen8 servers

This controller fits administrators upgrading storage on supported HPE ProLiant Gen8 rack or tower platforms. It is not suitable for servers lacking a compatible PCIe 3.0 x8 slot or for environments requiring external drive connectivity. Builders needing more than two internal SAS ports should consider other options.

Two internal 6 Gb/s SAS ports

The card presents two internal SAS ports supporting up to 6 Gb/s per lane. RAID levels 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and Advanced Data Mirroring are supported. The 6605501101 firmware enables dual-domain operation. Verify that your server backplane and cables match this port count and internal connector type before purchase.
