LTO-8 Ultrium 20-cartridge pack

This pack contains twenty HPE LTO-8 Ultrium data cartridges, each offering 12 TB native capacity and 30 TB compressed capacity. They are designed for libraries and autoloaders that require high-density, rewritable media for long-term backup and archive workloads. The cartridges arrive new and ready for immediate deployment.

Pre-labeled cases and non-custom labeling

Every cartridge ships inside its own protective case and carries a factory-applied, non-custom label. This eliminates the need for manual labeling before loading, reduces handling errors in automated libraries, and speeds up inventory audits. The standardized labeling matches common library barcode scanning workflows without additional setup.

3149.61 ft tape length

Each reel holds 3149.61 ft of tape engineered for reliable performance across HPE LTO-8 drives. The media supports AES-256 hardware encryption and LTFS partitioning for portable, file-level access. It is not suited for environments that require WORM compliance or custom-printed labels, nor for drives limited to earlier LTO generations.

Questions about this item

Will the 3149.61 ft tape length in each cartridge need periodic replacement?

Each LTO-8 cartridge holds 3149.61 ft of tape rated for long archival life; replacement is only needed if physical damage occurs or after the drive's specified head-wear limit is reached.

What capacity limit appears first during continuous 2.7 TB/hr writes?

The native 12 TB per cartridge fills before the compressed 30 TB figure, so sustained writing hits the 12 TB raw limit first.

How much heat or noise does the 20-pack add when the library runs all day?

The cartridges themselves are passive media; they generate no heat or noise — only the drive and library robotics contribute to thermal and acoustic output.
