HPE QR496A 900 GB 10K SAS drive

This HPE M6710 hard drive provides 900 GB of storage in a 2.5-inch internal form factor. It operates at 10000 rpm with a 6Gb/s SAS interface for enterprise server environments. The drive is supplied new as an HPE Qualified Option.

Suits SAS bays needing 10K performance

This drive fits servers that accept 2.5-inch SAS drives running at 10000 rpm. Buyers who need a larger capacity, a different rotational speed, or a non-SAS interface should look at other models.

Deciding spec: 6Gb/s SAS interface

The drive connects via a 6Gb/s SAS interface, which determines compatibility with the server backplane and controller. Confirm that your system supports this interface standard before purchase.

Questions about this item

What drive bay size and interface does the server need for the QR496A 2.5" SAS drive?

The server must provide a 2.5-inch internal bay with a 6Gb/s SAS backplane or controller port.

Will the 10000 rpm SAS drive work on an older 3Gb/s SAS controller?

Yes, the 6Gb/s SAS interface negotiates down to 3Gb/s, so the drive will operate at the controller's maximum speed.

How can I confirm the M6710 900GB drive is running at 10000 rpm after installation?

Check the drive's reported spindle speed in the RAID controller BIOS, HPE Smart Storage Administrator, or the OS disk utility — it should show 10000 rpm.
