Aruba 6400 Management Module

The Aruba 6400 Management Module provides the control plane for HPE Aruba 6400 switch chassis. It is designed for network engineers deploying campus or data-centre fabrics that require a dedicated management processor.

Sustained control-plane operation

The module handles continuous routing protocol computation, telemetry streaming and API-driven automation without offloading to line cards. Its architecture maintains consistent forwarding decisions during prolonged traffic bursts or topology changes.

Thermal and power profile

The module operates within the chassis shared cooling zone, drawing power from the redundant power-supply shelf. Acoustic output follows the system fan curve, and no independent thermal throttling is required under normal environmental conditions.

Questions about this item

How much heat does the R0X31A management module add to a 6400 chassis running continuously?

The module draws power from the 6400 chassis backplane, so its thermal contribution is handled by the chassis fan tray and existing airflow design.

What chassis and line modules must already be installed for the R0X31A to function?

It requires an Aruba 6400 chassis with at least one line module installed to provide switching fabric and port connectivity.

Will the R0X31A manage older ArubaOS-CX switches already in my network?

Yes, it runs ArubaOS-CX and can manage multi-vendor networks through standard protocols while controlling the local 6400 fabric.
