HPE

HPE R7J55A 3.6 Gbps Wi-Fi 6E access point

SKU CH-7JXP-MV77A MPN R7J55A

A Wi-Fi 6E access point delivering 3.6 Gbps aggregate throughput with a 2.5 GbE PoE uplink and built-in 802.15.4 ZigBee radio

  • Tri-band Wi-Fi 6E delivers 3.6 Gbps aggregate throughput
  • 4 Gbps on 6 GHz band enables low-latency high-density connections
  • 2 Gbps on 5 GHz band supports legacy and modern clients
  • 287 Mbps on 2.4 GHz band maintains IoT and ZigBee coverage
  • 5 GBase-T PoE port simplifies installation with single-cable power and data

Tri-band Wi-Fi 6E access point

The HPE R7J55A delivers Wi-Fi 6E across 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz and 6 GHz bands with a combined data rate of 3.6 Gbps. It integrates an 802.15.4 ZigBee radio for IoT connectivity and uses a 7 dBi omni-directional antenna for broad coverage. The unit is powered through a 2.5 GBase-T PoE port.

High-density enterprise deployments

This access point suits environments that need concurrent 6 GHz client access and ZigBee device management from a single ceiling-mount unit. It is not for installations that require external antenna connectors, multi-gigabit uplinks beyond 2.5 Gbps, or controller-less operation without a supported HPE management platform.

2.5 GBase-T PoE uplink

The single wired interface is a 2.5 GBase-T RJ-45 port that accepts Power over Ethernet. This uplink caps total aggregated wireless throughput to 2.5 Gbps, so the 3.6 Gbps radio capacity cannot be fully utilised on the wired side. Verify your switch infrastructure provides 2.5 GbE PoE ports before purchase.

Questions about this item

How much power does the R7J55A draw when running continuously?

The access point is powered through its 2.5 GBase-T PoE port, so it draws power from the connected switch or injector rather than a separate supply.

What cabling and switch port do I need to connect the R7J55A?

You need a Cat 5e or better Ethernet cable and a switch port that delivers PoE and supports 2.5 GBase-T speeds for the RJ-45 uplink.

Will the R7J55A serve my older 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz devices at the same time as 6 GHz clients?

Yes, the tri-band radio operates on 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz and 6 GHz simultaneously, supporting 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax across all three bands.
