Enterprise LTO-3 Tape Drive

The HPE StorageWorks LTO Ultrium 960 is an LTO-3 tape drive built for enterprise servers and small hard-drive arrays. It writes 400 GB native or 800 GB compressed per cartridge using linear serpentine recording.

Sustained 160 MB/s Transfer Rate

With a maximum native data transfer rate of 160 MB/s, the drive maintains high throughput during long backup windows. This sustained speed reduces the time needed to protect large datasets on a single cartridge.

Replaces Slower LTO Generations

The Ultrium 960 upgrades from earlier LTO drives by doubling compressed capacity and raising the transfer rate to 160 MB/s. It reads and writes second-generation media while reading first-generation cartridges, preserving existing tape investments.
