Industrial Three-Phase Locking Connector

The Hubbell HBL29W76 is a NEMA L16-30R straight-blade plug rated for 30 A at 480 V AC. It serves industrial facilities and heavy equipment that require a secure three-phase, four-wire connection with a cord range of .375 in to 1.125 in.

Wiring And Mounting Requirements

The plug uses a standard wiring style with three poles and four conductors in a non-shrouded housing. It accepts cable diameters from .375 in to 1.125 in, so installers must match the cord jacket to that window and provide a compatible L16-30R receptacle.

Thermals Noise And Power Draw

Rated for 10.0 HP loads, the connector handles continuous industrial current without a built-in power indicator. Yellow HAWA material resists corrosion in damp environments, while the locking interface maintains contact integrity under vibration and thermal cycling.

Questions about this item

How many amps does the HBL29W76 handle continuously before the 30 A rating becomes the limiting factor?

The connector is rated for 30 A at 480 V AC three-phase; sustained loads at or near that level will hit the ampacity limit first.

Does the yellow L16-30R body run hot or draw extra power when it feeds a 10.0 HP motor all day?

The industrial-grade housing is built for continuous 30 A duty; no additional power is consumed by the connector itself, and temperature rise stays within spec under full load.

What cord diameter must I already have to fit the HBL29W76’s cable entry?

The connector accepts cords from 0.375 in to 1.125 in outer diameter, so your existing cable must fall in that range.
