Three-Piece Coupling for IMC and RMC Conduit

This three-piece coupling joins two lengths of threaded IMC or RMC conduit in a straight line. The iron body carries a zinc-plated gray finish and is cULus listed for electrical installations. It suits contractors and electricians who need a code-compliant connection between compatible raceways.

Sustained Load Behavior

The zinc plating protects the iron from corrosion during long-term exposure in damp or outdoor locations. The NPT-threaded female-to-female design maintains a tight mechanical bond without loosening under vibration or thermal cycling. The cULus listing confirms the fitting meets safety standards for continuous service.

Installation Notes

Thread each conduit end into the coupling by hand, then tighten with a wrench until the joint is secure. The three-piece construction allows the centre ring to be removed for easier wire pulling before final assembly. Over-tightening can strip the NPT threads, so apply firm but controlled force.

Questions about this item

Does the RACO 1505 coupling generate heat or noise during continuous conduit runs?

This is a passive iron fitting with no moving parts or electrical components, so it produces no heat, noise or power draw once installed.

What conduit and tools must I already have to install this 1-1/4 in NPT coupling?

You need threaded IMC or RMC conduit in 1-1/4 in trade size plus standard pipe wrenches to tighten the female-to-female NPT threads.

Will the zinc-plated iron finish hold up when paired with older galvanized rigid conduit?

The zinc plating resists corrosion and the cULus listing covers use with both IMC and RMC, so it mates reliably with existing galvanized rigid conduit.
