A liquid-tight cord connector accepting .19 to .25 inch cable with 1/2 inch MNPT box entry and red gland for CSA LR27378 and UL E54218 compliance
The Hubbell SHC1015 is a straight aluminium cord connector designed for liquid tight sealing in electrical installations. It accepts a single cord with a diameter range of .19 to .25 inches and terminates in a 1/2 inch MNPT box connection for secure mounting.
As a passive mechanical fitting the connector generates no heat and produces no audible noise during operation. It draws zero electrical power and requires no external strain relief components to maintain its seal integrity.
This connector replaces worn or non rated fittings in junction boxes where a .19 to .25 inch cord must pass through a 1/2 inch NPT entry while meeting CSA LR27378 and UL E54218 standards. The upgrade is worth it when existing hardware lacks the red gland colour code for quick identification or when a straight style body is required for tight routing spaces.

Thread the aluminum body onto the 1/2 in MNPT box opening, insert the cord through the gland, then tighten the gland nut until the red gland compresses evenly around the cord; the step often missed is confirming the gland color code red matches the .19 to .25 in range before tightening.
Inspect the red gland periodically for cracking or hardening; if the cord diameter shifts outside the .19 to .25 in range or the gland shows wear, replace the entire connector to maintain the liquid-tight seal.
The liquid-tight seal at the red gland is the first limit; sustained vibration or temperature cycling can degrade the compression on cords at the edges of the .19 to .25 in range, allowing moisture ingress.
