RACO 292 Ceiling Box Capacity
The RACO 292 is a 3.9 cu in round ceiling pan electrical box made of galvanized steel. It is designed for single-gang ceiling installations where a shallow fixture box is required. UL Listed for safety compliance, it suits residential and light commercial wiring projects. The grey finish provides corrosion resistance in indoor environments.
Sustained Load Behaviour
Under continuous use the steel enclosure maintains its structural integrity and grounding path without deformation. The KO clamps and NMSC clamps secure cables firmly, preventing conductor movement that could loosen connections over time. The 1/2 in nominal depth keeps the profile low while the single 1/2 in back knockout allows straightforward cable entry. No side knockouts are present.
3.9 cu in Fill Limit
The 3.9 cubic inch capacity sets the maximum conductor fill permitted by code for this box volume. Installers must count each wire, clamp and device yoke against this limit to avoid overfilling. The single-gang format accepts one device such as a light fixture or canopy. Exceeding the rated volume violates the UL listing and creates a fire hazard.
