Queen-size vinyl box-spring protector

The Hygea VIN-1004 is a 6-gauge vinyl encasement sized 60 by 80 inches for a standard queen box spring or mattress. It is designed for homes, hospitals and care facilities that need a waterproof, bed-bug-proof barrier. The white cover fully encloses the unit to block liquids, allergens and pests. Durable construction suits long-term institutional or residential use.

Check mattress depth and zipper access

Verify the box spring or mattress measures no more than nine inches deep so the encasement closes completely. Ensure you can stand the unit on its side to slide the cover over the top before zipping the three-sided interlocking zipper. Confirm the vinyl material is acceptable for the sleeper, as it has a different feel than fabric protectors. No additional tools are required for installation.

Suits moisture and pest protection needs

This protector suits buyers who need a 100% waterproof, bed-bug-proof cover that can be wiped clean with a damp cloth. It is not for shoppers who prefer a breathable fabric surface, a fitted-sheet style that does not fully encase the unit, or a machine-washable and tumble-dryable option. Buyers wanting a quieter, textile-like sleep surface should consider other materials.

Questions about this item

Does the protector come with anything else, or do I need to buy a mattress separately?

The package contains only the vinyl encasement. A mattress or box spring measuring 60 by 80 inches must be supplied separately.

Is the 6-gauge vinyl version the only option for a queen-size bed?

The listed item is the 6-gauge vinyl model in queen size. No other gauges or dimensions are offered for this part number.

Will the 6-gauge vinyl still feel comfortable when I sleep on it?

The 6-gauge vinyl is designed for waterproof, bed-bug-proof protection. It is a non-breathable barrier layer, so a regular sheet or topper is normally used on top for sleeping comfort.
