Console overview

The Hyperkin RetroN 2 HD is a new two-in-one console that plays original NES, Super NES and Super Famicom cartridges from both NTSC and PAL regions. It targets retro enthusiasts who want authentic cartridge hardware without the hassle of ageing AV connections.

Build and connections

The black chassis uses Hyperkin-engineered perfect pin technology to improve cartridge contact reliability. A rear switch toggles between 4:3 and 16:9 output when the supplied 3 ft HD cable is used, while an AV port and cable are also included for legacy displays. Two controller ports accept the bundled Cadet and Scout premium classic-style controllers, and a 6 ft micro charge cable plus AC adapter keep them powered.

Upgrade context

This unit replaces separate NES and SNES consoles plus an upscaler for owners who want a single HDMI-ready box. The jump is worth it when you have a mixed library of NTSC and PAL cartridges and prefer original hardware over software emulation.
