600 GB 10000 rpm SAS drive

This refurbished IBM 00Y8861 is a 600 GB internal hard drive with a 2.5 inch form factor and a 10000 rpm spindle speed. It connects through a 6Gb/s SAS interface for server and storage array installations.

Suits SAS bays needing 600 GB at 10k rpm

It fits servers that take 2.5 inch SAS drives running at 10000 rpm. It does not suit systems that only accept a different physical connector or interface protocol, nor builds that require a larger capacity than 600 GB.

6Gb/s SAS interface decides fit

The drive uses the 6Gb/s SAS standard, so the host backplane or controller must support that exact interface. If the system demands another interface type, this unit will not connect.

Questions about this item

How do I confirm the 10000 rpm spindle speed is active after installing the 00Y8861?

The drive spins at 10000 rpm by design; verify operation by checking the SAS link speed and I/O activity in your RAID controller or operating system disk utility.

What is included with the 00Y8861 and what must be purchased separately?

The unit is the 600 GB 2.5" SAS hard drive only; a compatible SAS backplane, cable or hot-swap tray for your server chassis is required separately.

Which capacity of the 00Y8861 should I choose for a 600 GB requirement?

This part number is the 600 GB model; select 00Y8861 when you need exactly 600 GB of 10000 rpm SAS storage in a 2.5" form factor.
