Ultrabay Enhanced Combo Drive

The IBM 39M3563 is a 24X CD-RW and 8X DVD-ROM combination unit designed for the Ultrabay Enhanced slot. It provides read and write capability for optical media in compatible IBM and Lenovo ThinkPad systems. This new drive suits users who need legacy optical support in a modular bay.

Modular bay optical storage

Installation requires an available Ultrabay Enhanced bay and the correct carrier hardware for the specific laptop model. The drive draws power and data through the bay connector, eliminating separate cables. It frees external ports by keeping disc access internal while the system is docked or mobile.

Questions about this item

How long does the 24X CD-R write speed stay stable during a full disc burn?

The 24X rating is the maximum write speed; the drive adjusts speed as needed to maintain reliable recording across the disc.

What is the noise level when the drive runs at 8X DVD read speed for extended periods?

Operational noise varies with disc balance and speed; the Ultrabay Enhanced design fits standard bays for typical server acoustics.
