Drive tray for 2.5" SATA SAS backplanes

The ICY DOCK ToughArmor MB491TKL-B is a replacement drive tray designed for the MB491 series of internal mobile rack backplanes. It accepts 2.5-inch SATA or SAS hard drives and solid-state drives. The tray is intended for server and workstation builders who need a spare or additional caddy for hot-swap bays.

Fits MB491 series rack backplanes

This tray slots directly into compatible ICY DOCK MB491 series backplanes without tools. It frees a drive bay for quick drive changes during maintenance or capacity upgrades. The metal lock secures the drive inside the chassis during transport or vibration. No other mounting hardware is required beyond the backplane itself.

Includes metal lock for drive security

The bundled metal lock replaces a plastic latch and prevents accidental ejection. It ensures the drive stays seated under shock or vibration in rack environments. No software or extra accessories are included with the tray.

Questions about this item

Does the metal lock on the ToughArmor MB491TKL-B tray prevent drive removal during sustained server vibration?

The tray includes a metal lock designed to secure the 2.5 inch drive inside compatible MB491 Series backplanes during continuous rack operation.

Will the all-metal tray add noticeable heat or fan noise when the drive runs 24/7?

The tray is a passive metal caddy without fans or electronics, so it adds no active cooling noise and only conducts heat from the installed SATA or SAS drive.

Which backplane must I already have installed for this MB491TKL-B tray to function?

It requires an ICY DOCK MB491 Series 2.5 inch SATA SAS internal mobile rack backplane to accept the tray and connect the drive.
