Strips 22-16 AWG solid and stranded wire with one-third less hand pressure per actuation
The Ideal Stripmaster 45-635 is a hand-operated wire stripper calibrated for 22 to 16 AWG solid and stranded conductors. It measures 5-1/2 inches overall and features dipped plastic handles designed to reduce hand pressure by approximately one-third per actuation. The tool meets MIL-W-81044, MIL-W-16878 and MIL-W-81381 standards for military-specification wiring.
This model replaces fixed-blade or manual adjustment strippers that require higher grip force and risk nicking conductors. The automatic adjustment mechanism self-sizes to the wire gauge within the 22-16 AWG range, making the jump worthwhile for technicians processing high volumes of PTFE-insulated hook-up wire rated to 1000V. It is not suited for cables outside this gauge window or for cutting and crimping tasks.
The stripper cleanly processes solid and stranded wires from 22 AWG up to 16 AWG, covering standard MIL-spec hook-up wire types including EE PTFE. It includes a grit pad for cleaning blades, maintaining precision over repeated cycles. The tool stops at 16 AWG maximum capacity; larger gauge power cables or multi-conductor sheathing fall outside its range and require a different tool.

The tool measures 5-1/2 inches overall and strips solid or stranded conductors from 22 AWG up to 16 AWG.
Loosen the knurled stop nut, slide the gauge to the desired strip length, then retighten the nut; forgetting to lock the nut lets the stop drift during use.
Replace the included grit pad once the abrasive surface no longer cleans the stripping blades effectively.
