External Blu-ray Burner with Dual Interface

This IHDAPP drive reads and writes Blu-ray, DVD and CD media through a single cable that carries both USB 3.0 and Type-C connectors. It targets laptop and desktop users who need an optical drive without a dedicated power brick.

Installation and Common Issues

The unit draws power directly from the host port, so no external adapter is required. Plug the combined cable into either a USB 3.0 or Type-C socket and the operating system recognises the drive automatically. If the port cannot supply enough current, write operations may fail or the tray may not eject; using a powered hub or a second USB port for auxiliary power usually resolves this.

Sustained Write Behaviour

During long burns the drive maintains its rated speeds — 6× for BD-R, 8× for DVD±R and 24× for CD-R — while the USB 3.0 link provides up to 5 Gbps bandwidth. Error correction and impact resistance keep the stream stable, and the mechanism stays quiet even when writing dual-layer 8.5 GB discs for extended periods.

Questions about this item

How can I verify the drive is reading Blu-ray discs at the rated 6X speed after connecting it?

Play a Blu-ray movie or run a disc-speed utility; sustained transfer near the 6X mark confirms the drive is performing as specified.

Which cables and media are included, and what must I supply myself?

The unit has a built-in USB 3.0 and Type-C cable with storage grooves; you provide blank BD-R, DVD±R or CD-R media and Blu-ray playback software.

Should I choose this model for 8.5 GB dual-layer DVD burning or only for single-layer 4.7 GB discs?

The burner writes both 8.5 GB dual-layer and 4.7 GB single-layer DVDs, so it covers either capacity need.
