Dual laptop control via Thunderbolt 3

The IHDAPP SW524 is a 12-in-1 KVM switch that lets two laptops share dual HDMI monitors, keyboard, mouse and a full set of USB and Ethernet ports. Each laptop connects through a single Thunderbolt 3 USB-C cable that carries video and data. A 12 V 1.5 A power adapter is included for stable operation.

Windows users needing dual 4K60 output.

Windows laptops with Thunderbolt 3 or higher can drive two external displays at 4K 60 Hz and use all 10 Gbps USB 3.2 ports, dual 5 Gbps USB 3.0 ports, Gigabit Ethernet, SD and microSD slots. MacOS laptops are limited to copy mode only and cannot use the expansion ports. Buyers who need Power Delivery charging through the KVM should look elsewhere, as the USB-C inputs do not supply power to the host.

Thunderbolt 3 host requirement decides compatibility

The decisive specification is that each laptop must provide a Thunderbolt 3 (or newer) USB-C port with video-out capability. Without Thunderbolt 3 the switch cannot deliver dual 4K60 HDMI signals or the 10 Gbps USB 3.2 data paths. Verify the host port specification before purchase.

Questions about this item

Should I pick this 12-in-1 model or a simpler hub for two laptops and two monitors?

This SW524 provides 12 functions including dual 4K60 HDMI, 10Gbps USB 3.2, 1000Mbps Ethernet, SD and microSD slots, letting two laptops share one keyboard, mouse and monitor pair.

What does the 4K60Hz headline figure deliver on my actual screens?

Each monitor can run at 4K resolution and 60Hz refresh when connected through the HDMI outputs, giving sharp detail and smooth motion for both computers.

How does the Thunderbolt 3 interface limit what I can connect?

The USB-C inputs require Thunderbolt 3 or higher for video; the switch does not supply power to laptops and Macs only support copy mode, not extended desktop.
