Product identity

The IHDAPP USB 3.0 Wi-Fi Adapter is a dual-band wireless dongle for desktops and laptops. It connects via a USB 3.0 port and supports Windows from XP through 10, Mac OS 10.6 to 10.15 and Linux. Buyers whose devices lack a USB-A port or who need Bluetooth cannot use this adapter.

Capacity and headroom

The adapter delivers up to 300 Mbps on the 2.4 GHz band and 867 Mbps on the 5.8 GHz band for a combined 1200 Mbps link rate. MU-MIMO allows two simultaneous streams when paired with a compatible router. The USB 3.0 interface provides 5 Gbps bus bandwidth so the wireless link is not bottlenecked by the port.

Deciding specification

Two 3 dBi high-gain antennas are included for extended range and better penetration through walls. The hardware supports WEP, WPA, WPA2, 802.1X and WMM encryption. Driver installation requires the supplied CD or a download from the manufacturer site; no Bluetooth or 6 GHz Wi-Fi is supported.

Questions about this item

Will the USB 3.0 Wi-Fi adapter run on a desktop that only has USB 2.0 ports?

Yes, the adapter works with USB 2.0 ports, but the 5 Gbps transfer ceiling of USB 3.0 will not be reached, so maximum wireless throughput may be lower.

How can I confirm the dual-band adapter is actually using the 5 GHz band after installation?

Open the network status panel in Windows or Mac OS and verify the connection shows 5 GHz and a link speed near 867 Mbps.

Does the package include a driver CD, or must I download the software separately?

A driver CD is included in the box; if your system lacks an optical drive you can download the 4605AC driver from the aigital.cn website instead.
