Adds four USB 3.0 ports via a PCIe x1 slot with individual 2A power per port and over-current protection
The IHDAPP VL805 adds four USB 3.0 ports to any desktop with a free PCI Express slot. It targets users who need extra high-speed ports for external drives, cameras or peripherals without opening the case for internal hubs. The card fits x1, x4, x8 or x16 slots and works with 32-bit and 64-bit Windows 10, 8.1, 8, 7 and XP. Linux is not supported.
Each port provides a dedicated 2 A supply for a combined 8 A, fed through an on-board 4-pin power connector that draws from the system PSU. Four conductive polymer capacitors smooth the supply to every port. Over-current and short-circuit protection is fitted per interface. No separate external power brick is required.
The package contains only the expansion board itself. Windows 8 and 10 install the driver automatically; Windows 7 and XP require a separate driver download. The lack of Linux support means the card cannot be used in Linux-based workstations or servers. Builders needing internal headers or additional internal connectors must look elsewhere.

Insert the card into any PCIe x1, x4, x8 or x16 slot, secure the bracket, and connect the 4-pin power connector from the PSU; the missed step is forgetting that power lead, which leaves the four ports without their individual 2 A supply.
The four conductive polymer capacitors and per-port over-current protection are built-in; no user-serviceable parts exist, so the card itself only needs replacement if a port fails or the VL805 controller stops enumerating devices.
The PCIe 2.0 x1 host link caps aggregate throughput at 5 Gbps, so simultaneous 5 Gbps transfers on multiple ports will saturate the bus before the per-port 2 A current limit is reached.
