Product Identity
Ilford Multigrade FB Classic is a variable-contrast black-and-white photographic paper supplied in a 100-sheet pack of 8x10 inch size. It is aimed at darkroom printers who want neutral image tone and a fibre base that accepts toning well.
Sustained Darkroom Performance
The paper has a short induction time of around 20 seconds for image appearance during processing. It provides a closer speed relationship between grades and more uniform grade separation for consistent results across sessions. Wash times are reduced by 50% compared with earlier versions, lowering water use during extended printing runs. Sharp images are maintained throughout long processing sequences.
Processing Characteristics
The 255g/m2 fibre base offers durability and longevity for finished prints. A white base tint supports rich blacks and excellent tonal rendition on the glossy surface. The surface responds favourably to toners, expanding creative options without extra chemical strain. Faster processing and reduced washing also lessen environmental impact in routine use.

Questions about this item
Does the 255 g/m² fibre base generate heat or noise during long printing sessions?
The paper is a passive photographic material; it produces no heat or noise when exposed or processed.
What darkroom equipment must I already own to use this variable-contrast 8×10 paper?
You need an enlarger with variable-contrast filtration, chemistry trays for developer, stop bath and fixer, a safelight, and a washing setup.
Will my existing graded-paper filters work with the Multigrade FB Classic's contrast range?
The paper is designed for variable-contrast filtration (grades 00 to 5); traditional graded filters are not compatible.
