Plenum-rated Cat6e for air-handling spaces

This 1000 ft bulk Ethernet cable is built for plenum-rated installations above ceilings or below raised floors where air circulates. It meets CMP fire-safety requirements and can also be used in riser-rated pathways. The solid bare copper conductors support Gigabit Ethernet at 600 MHz bandwidth and 2.5GBase-T or 5GBase-T speeds at shorter distances.

Verify pathway rating

Confirm that your building code requires CMP plenum rating for the intended cable route; riser-only cable will not satisfy plenum requirements. The reel-in-a-box packaging weighs 29 lbs and feeds from the centre, so ensure the pull path can accommodate the box dimensions and that the rip cord is accessible for jacket removal at each termination point.

Reelex II box and rip cord speed up installation

The centre-feed Reelex II carton pays out cable without tangling, reducing kinks and snagging during long pulls through conduit or ceiling trays. A built-in rip cord lets installers strip the jacket quickly without a separate slitting tool, cutting termination time at every keystone jack or RJ45 connector.

Questions about this item

Does the 1000ft reel include RJ45 connectors and keystone jacks or must they be purchased separately?

The cable is supplied as a 1000ft bulk reel; RJ45 connectors and keystone jacks are listed as compatible termination options and are not included in the box.

Should I choose the 23AWG solid copper version for a 328ft run at 600MHz or is a thinner gauge acceptable?

The 23AWG solid bare copper construction meets the 600MHz rating at the full 328ft distance; a thinner gauge would not satisfy the same performance specification.

What real-world speed can I expect from the 600MHz rating when the cable is installed in a plenum space?

The 600MHz bandwidth supports 1Gb Ethernet at the full 328ft and up to 10Gb at shorter distances using 2.5GBase-T and 5GBase-T standards.
