86mm Variable ND Filter for Lens Threads

The NiSi Swift True Color ND-Vario mounts on lenses with an 86mm front filter thread. It provides adjustable neutral density from 1 to 5 stops, letting photographers and videographers control exposure in bright conditions without swapping fixed filters.

Exposure Range 1-5 Stops (ND2-ND32)

The filter delivers a density range of .3 to 1.5, equivalent to ND2 through ND32. Rotating the front ring varies the effect smoothly, and the supplied silver lever can be attached for quicker adjustments during video work.

For Creatives Needing Variable Density on 86mm Glass

Suited to shooters who want a single filter to cover multiple lighting scenarios on large-diameter lenses. Not for owners of lenses with smaller thread sizes, users who require density beyond 5 stops, or anyone needing a fixed-strength ND for maximum optical purity.

Questions about this item

What exposure reduction does the 1-5 stops range give me on an 86mm lens?

The filter reduces light by 1 to 5 stops, equivalent to ND2 to ND32 density, letting you use wider apertures or slower shutter speeds in bright conditions.

How does the variable mechanism work and what limits the range?

Rotating the front ring changes density smoothly from 0.3 to 1.5; the built-in hard stops prevent rotation beyond 1 or 5 stops so you avoid uneven darkening.

What thread size and clearance does the filter need to mount?

It screws onto an 86mm front filter thread; the slim frame is designed to avoid vignetting on wide-angle lenses.
