Half-Mini PCIe form factor

The Intel 7260HMW is a dual-band wireless adapter that fits a half-mini PCIe slot. It supports Wi-Fi 5 and Wi-Fi 4 standards alongside Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity. The card uses a 2x2 antenna configuration for improved throughput. It is designed for laptops or small-form-factor systems that have an available half-mini PCIe slot.

Upgrade compatibility

This adapter suits owners of compatible laptops or embedded boards who want to add or replace a wireless module with Bluetooth 4.0 support. It works with systems that accept a half-mini PCIe card and have the necessary antenna connectors. Buyers whose devices only offer M.2 keyed slots or lack the required antenna leads cannot use this module.

2x2 antenna configuration

The adapter implements a 2x2 MIMO design that defines its maximum spatial stream capability. This specification determines the peak data rates available on Wi-Fi 5 and Wi-Fi 4 networks. Confirm that your system provides two antenna cables before purchasing, as a single cable will limit performance.

Questions about this item

Should I pick the 7260HMW or another Wi-Fi 5 Mini-PCIe card?

The 7260HMW adds Bluetooth 4.0 to dual-band Wi-Fi 5 and Wi-Fi 4 in a half-height Mini-PCIe form factor, so choose it when you need both wireless and Bluetooth on one card.

What does the 802.11ac rating deliver in a laptop?

The 802.11ac implementation provides Wi-Fi 5 speeds on the 5 GHz band with a 2x2 antenna configuration for higher throughput and better range than Wi-Fi 4 alone.

Does the Mini-PCIe slot limit the Wi-Fi 5 or Bluetooth 4.0 performance?

The half-height Mini-PCIe interface carries both Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 4.0 signals without capping either standard's rated capability.
