The Intel Core i3-8350K is a quad-core desktop processor built on the Coffee Lake architecture. It runs at a fixed 4.0 GHz base frequency with an 8 MB Smart Cache and integrates Intel UHD Graphics 630. The unlocked multiplier allows manual frequency adjustments on compatible platforms.

Upgrade Path

This CPU replaces earlier dual-core i3 models by adding two physical cores while keeping the same LGA 1151 socket. The jump is worthwhile when moving to a 300 Series motherboard for DDR4-2400 support and Optane Memory readiness. It does not support Turbo Boost, so performance scales directly with the manual overclock applied.

Installation Notes

The processor drops into an LGA 1151 (300 Series) socket with zero force; alignment notches prevent incorrect seating. No cooler is bundled, so a separate 91W-rated solution must be sourced before first boot. Common issues include BIOS versions older than the 300 Series launch and forgetting to enable XMP for the DDR4-2400 memory kit.
