Refurbished 14-core desktop processor

The Intel Core i5-14500 is a refurbished desktop CPU with 14 cores split into six performance and eight efficient cores. It runs on the LGA 1700 socket using the Intel 7 process and includes Intel UHD Graphics 770. The boxed unit ships with the Intel Laminar RM1 cooler.

Suits multitasking builds.

This chip suits builders who want strong multi-thread throughput at a 65 W base power without overclocking. The 20 threads handle heavy workloads and background tasks well. Buyers who need an unlocked multiplier for manual frequency tuning should look at a K-series part instead.

154 W maximum turbo power defines cooling needs

The processor can draw up to 154 W when boosting, so the cooling solution and motherboard power delivery must handle that peak. The included Laminar RM1 cooler is rated for the base 65 W; sustained all-core loads may require a larger air tower or liquid cooler.

Questions about this item

How loud and hot does the 65W Core i5-14500 get under sustained load with the bundled Intel Laminar RM1 cooler?

The processor has a 65W base power and can reach 154W max turbo power, so the included Laminar RM1 cooler handles typical workloads quietly, though sustained all-core boosts will raise temperatures and fan speed.

Which memory kit and motherboard chipset must I already own to install this LGA 1700 CPU?

You need a DDR4-3200 or DDR5-4800 kit running in dual-channel and a motherboard with an Intel H610, B660, H670, Q670, W680 or Z690 chipset.

Will my existing PCIe 4.0 graphics card and storage run at full speed on the Core i5-14500 platform?

Yes, the CPU provides 20 PCIe lanes split as PCIe 5.0 and 4.0, so a PCIe 4.0 graphics card in the x16 slot and a PCIe 4.0 drive in the x4 slot both operate at their rated speeds.
