Thin Mini-ITX LGA 1155 Platform

This Intel DQ77KB board uses the Q77 Express chipset in a Thin Mini-ITX form factor. It accepts second- and third-generation Core, Xeon and Pentium processors up to a 65 W TDP. Two 204-pin SO-DIMM slots support dual-channel DDR3 1333 and 1600 memory up to 16 GB. Dual Gigabit LAN and four external USB 3.0 ports handle wired networking and fast peripherals. HDMI and DisplayPort outputs drive two independent displays.

Bundled Cables Shields Adapter Software

The package includes two SATA 6.0 Gb/s cables, a full-height and a slim I/O shield, a DVI-to-HDMI adapter and a software suite DVD. The cables and shields let the board fit standard and low-profile chassis without extra parts. The adapter adds a legacy DVI option to the native HDMI and DisplayPort outputs. The software suite installs Intel Rapid Storage Technology drivers for RAID 0, 1, 5 and 10 across the four SATA ports.

Low-Profile Mounting TPM vPro Notes

Thin Mini-ITX mounting holes align with standard Mini-ITX standoffs, but the reduced board height demands a compatible low-profile CPU cooler and chassis. The half-length and full-length Mini PCIe slots share space with the I/O area, so card placement must be planned before assembly. TPM and Intel vPro eligibility are present on the board; both require a supporting processor and a BIOS configuration step to activate.

Questions about this item

Will the two SO-DIMM slots need replacement if I later want more than 16 GB of DDR3 1600 memory?

The board is limited to 16 GB across its two SO-DIMM slots, so any capacity increase would require a different motherboard rather than a module swap.

What thermal limit appears first when a 65 W TDP processor runs at full load continuously?

The 65 W TDP rating is the primary thermal ceiling; sustained full-load operation will hit that limit before any other onboard component reaches its maximum.

How loud does the system fan become when the board powers dual LAN, four USB 3.0 ports and two displays all day?

Fan noise depends on the cooler and chassis chosen; the board itself has no integrated fan, so acoustic output is determined by the external cooling solution.
