Quad-port Gigabit server adapter

The Intel I350T4V2 is a quad-port Gigabit Ethernet server adapter built on the Intel I350 controller. It provides four RJ45 connectors operating at 10, 100 or 1000 Mbps over standard twisted-pair cabling. The card targets servers and workstations that need multiple wired network links for virtualisation, iSCSI storage or segmented traffic.

Upgrade from dual-port or single-port NICs

Adding this adapter replaces older single or dual-port Gigabit cards when four independent ports are required for virtual machine queues, iSCSI targets or network segmentation. The jump is worth it when the host needs up to 32 virtual ports with QoS or when DMA Coalescing and Energy Efficient Ethernet can reduce CPU overhead and power draw in a busy virtualised environment.

PCIe 2.1 x4 installation with two brackets

The card uses a PCIe 2.1 x4 interface and fits x4, x8 or x16 slots. Both a full-height bracket at 12.0 cm and a low-profile bracket at 7.92 cm are included for different chassis types. Installation fails when the slot negotiates at a lower width or when the operating system lacks driver support for the I350 feature set.

Questions about this item

Will the 13.54 cm long card with its 12.0 cm full-height bracket fit my standard server chassis?

The card measures 13.54 cm in length and ships with a 12.0 cm full-height bracket that matches standard server mounting rails.

Which PCIe slot width should I use for the 4-lane PCIe 2.1 interface?

Insert the adapter into any x4, x8, or x16 PCIe 2.1 slot; the 4-lane edge connector will negotiate 5.0 GT/s automatically.

Do the four RJ45 ports require any periodic cleaning or module replacement?

The fixed copper RJ45 ports have no removable transceivers; occasional dust removal from the port openings is the only upkeep needed.
