Green PCI network card with single RJ45 port and metal bracket

Intel

Intel Pro 1000MT Single Port PCI Network Card C39226-002/003

SKU CH-R80T-7TVNA

Adds a single Gigabit Ethernet port to a desktop via 32- or 64-bit PCI using the Intel 82545 controller

  • Gigabit speeds up to 1000 Mbps for fast wired networking
  • PCI bus compatibility at 33, 66, 100 or 133 MHz for broad system support
  • 64 KB onboard memory buffers traffic to reduce CPU load
  • Intel 82545 controller handles 10, 100 and 1000 Mbps links reliably
  • Single RJ45 port adds one Ethernet connection to legacy PCI slots

Single-port PCI network adapter

The Intel Pro 1000MT adds a single Gigabit Ethernet connection to systems with an available PCI slot. It suits workstations or servers that need a wired link but lack onboard gigabit or require a dedicated management port.

Thermals noise and power

Typical draw is 1 A at +5 V with bus-master DMA keeping CPU overhead low. The card carries FCC Class A and CE marks and runs passively, so it adds no audible noise to the chassis.

Build and daily use

A 32- or 64-bit PCI interface at 33, 66, 100 or 133 MHz fits legacy and current PCI backplanes. The RJ-45 jack supports 10, 100 and 1000 Mbps auto-negotiation, while 64 KB onboard memory and INTA interrupt handling simplify driver setup for routine network tasks.

Questions about this item

How do I install the Intel Pro 1000MT into a 32-bit or 64-bit PCI slot, and what is the common mistake?

Insert the card into a 33, 66, 100 or 133 MHz PCI slot; the step often missed is enabling bus-master DMA in the system BIOS so the Intel 82545 controller can transfer data without CPU overhead.

What maintenance or replacement will the Intel Pro 1000MT need over time?

The card has no moving parts or user-serviceable components; only the RJ45 connector or a failed 82545 controller would require full replacement.

What limit appears first when the Intel Pro 1000MT runs at 1000 Mbps continuously?

The 32-bit PCI bus at 33 MHz caps sustained throughput at roughly 133 MB/s, so the bus saturates before the 1000 Mbps Ethernet link or the 64 KB onboard buffer.
