Dual-port 10Gbps SFP+ adapter using a PCIe 2.0 x8 slot for server networking
The Intel X520-DA2 is a dual-port 10Gbps network interface card built for servers and workstations needing high-throughput wired connectivity. It installs into a PCI Express 2.0 x8 slot and uses the Intel 82599 controller to deliver reliable performance for virtualization, storage and compute clusters.
Two SFP+ cages accept a variety of direct-attach copper cables or fibre transceivers, letting you match reach and media to the rack layout without changing the card. The low-profile bracket fits standard and dense chassis, and the x8 electrical interface provides sufficient bandwidth for both ports at line rate.
This adapter replaces gigabit NICs or single-port 10GbE cards when aggregate throughput, redundancy or convergence of LAN and SAN traffic is required. The jump is worth it for hosts running multi-core workloads, database clusters or video-on-demand streams that saturate slower links.
