Converts Gigabit copper Ethernet to an SFP fiber slot with auto-sensing RJ45 and status LEDs
This media converter links a 10/100/1000Base-TX copper segment to an SFP fiber transceiver, extending Ethernet beyond the standard 100 m copper limit. It suits administrators who need to join remote workgroups or connect separate buildings without adding routers. The RJ45 port auto-negotiates speed and supports Auto MDI/MDI-X for straight-through or crossover cables. An SFP module is not included and must be chosen for the required fiber type and distance.
Installation requires only the supplied 12 V DC external adapter and a compatible SFP module inserted into the front slot; no software configuration is needed. Status LEDs show power, link activity, duplex state and a dedicated 1000 Mbps indicator for the copper port. The unit can operate standalone on a desktop or be mounted in the 14-slot 19-inch rack chassis model 507356 for high-density deployments. Verify that the selected SFP module matches the fiber core size and wavelength before powering up.
The converter forwards traffic at full 1000 Mbps wire speed and supports jumbo frames up to 9 kBytes, so sustained throughput matches the connected link capacity. Maximum power draw is 5 watts, and the fanless enclosure operates reliably from 0 to 50 °C with 10 to 80 % non-condensing humidity. No throttling or performance degradation occurs during prolonged high-load periods, making it suitable for always-on backbone links between switches or media converters.

The Power LED should stay solid, the RJ45 Link/Activity LED will blink at 1000 Mbps when a Cat5e or better cable is linked, and the fiber port Link LED will light when a compatible SFP module establishes a connection.
The box contains the media converter, a 12 V DC 1.2 A external power adapter, and instructions. Any Gigabit 1.25 G SFP transceiver — multimode or single-mode — must be bought separately.
Choose a Gigabit 1.25 G Mini GBIC SFP module; multimode for short-range fiber runs or single-mode for long-distance links, matching the fiber cable you plan to use.
