8-Port HDMI KVM with Audio

The IOGEAR GCS1808H lets administrators manage up to eight HDMI computers from one USB keyboard, mouse and monitor console. It supports 1920 x 1200 resolution at 60 Hz and passes 2.1 stereo audio through front and rear 3.5 mm jacks. Two extra USB 2.0 ports share peripherals such as printers or storage across all connected systems. Cascading three levels expands control to 512 computers.

Check HDMI and USB Ports

Each computer must provide an HDMI output, a USB Type-B port and a 3.5 mm stereo jack for audio. The console side requires one HDMI display, one USB keyboard and one USB mouse connected to the dedicated Type-A ports. Verify that your rack has 1.75 inches of vertical space and 17 inches of depth for the 1U chassis. The unit operates from 0 to 50 °C with humidity up to 80 % non-condensing.

Cables and Firmware Included

Two custom USB HDMI KVM cable sets connect the first two computers immediately without separate purchases. A firmware upgrade cable allows future updates through the front panel. The package also supplies a 5.0 V DC power adapter, four foot pads for desktop use and a full rack-mounting kit for server cabinets. A quick start guide covers push-button, hot-key and OSD switching methods.

Questions about this item

What cables and accessories ship with the GCS1808H, and what must I buy separately?

The box includes the 8-port switch, two custom USB HDMI KVM cable sets, a firmware upgrade cable, a 5.0 V power adapter, four foot pads, a quick start guide, and a rack mounting kit. No extra cables are required for a basic eight-computer setup.

Which resolution and cascade level should I choose for my installation?

The switch supports up to 1920 x 1200 at 60 Hz per port. You can cascade up to three levels of GCS1808H units to control a maximum of 512 computers from one console.

How does the 1920 x 1200 at 60 Hz headline figure behave when I switch between live computers?

Video DynaSync reads and stores the monitor EDID so the 1920 x 1200 60 Hz signal remains stable with no resolution change or delay when switching or booting any of the eight connected sources.
