Two-Port USB KVM Switch

The IOGEAR GCS72U lets one USB keyboard, USB mouse and VGA monitor control two computers. It is built for home-office users or small-business desks that need to keep separate systems on a single screen. No drivers or software are required, so setup is immediate on Windows, Mac or Sun Solaris workstations.

Integrated Audio and Cabled Design

The switch adds 2.1 stereo audio and microphone pass-through, letting speakers and a headset stay connected while you toggle between machines. Three-foot molded cables are permanently attached to the unit, removing the need to source or route separate video and USB leads. Plug-and-play monitor support means the display is recognised instantly after each switch.

Compact Metal Enclosure

The housing measures 6.25" x 8.88" x 2.25" and weighs 1.04 lbs, so it sits unobtrusively on a desk or shelf. Front-panel push buttons give tactile switching without hot-key memorisation. VGA and USB console ports face the user for quick access, while the fixed cables run to each host computer, keeping cable clutter to a minimum.

Questions about this item

Will the built-in 3' cables need to be replaced if a connector fails?

The cables are molded into the unit, so a damaged connector cannot be swapped separately; the whole switch would need replacement.

What video limit appears first when running at the maximum 2048 x 1536 resolution?

The switch is rated for 2048 x 1536 via VGA, so the analog VGA bandwidth is the limiting factor at that resolution.

Does the GCS72U generate noticeable heat or fan noise during all-day operation?

The unit has no fan and draws minimal power, so it runs silently with only slight warmth during continuous use.
