IOGEAR

IOGEAR GDP14AOC20 50 ft DisplayPort cable

SKU CH-SA93-T0PWT MPN GDP14AOC20

Active optical cable carries 8K 60 Hz and 4K 120 Hz video up to 50 ft without external power

  • 8K 60 Hz gaming with 32.4 Gbps bandwidth
  • 50 ft reach without external power via optical fiber
  • 4K 120 Hz smooth motion for competitive play
  • DisplayPort 1.4 compliant with MST multi-stream support
  • 10K 30 Hz future-ready resolution headroom

50 ft Active Optical DisplayPort Cable

This 50 ft active optical cable carries DisplayPort 1.4 signals up to 15.25 m without external power. It targets installers and enthusiasts who need 8K or high-refresh 4K video across rooms or through conduit where copper cables fail.

Replaces Length-Limited Copper Links

Standard copper DisplayPort cables lose integrity well before this distance, forcing signal repeaters or shorter runs. The jump is worth it when the source and display must stay separated by 10 m or more and 32.4 Gbps bandwidth is required.

DisplayPort 1.4 Bandwidth Ceiling

The 32.4 Gbps limit caps 10K resolution to 30 Hz and 8K to 60 Hz with 24-bit RGB colour. Higher refresh rates at 8K or uncompressed 10K 60 Hz exceed the interface, so the cable cannot deliver them regardless of optical quality.

Questions about this item

Does the 50 ft length need any external power to work?

No, the active optical design draws power from the DisplayPort source so no external adapter is required.

How do I avoid damaging the fiber when routing the cable?

Do not bend the cable tighter than the minimum bend radius and pull only on the connector housing, never on the cable jacket.

Will the optical modules need replacement after a certain period?

The optical transceivers are permanently sealed inside the connectors and are not user-serviceable; the cable is replaced as a single unit if it fails.
