Drive density upgrade

The iStarUSA BPN-DE340HD-SILVER fits four 3.5-inch hot-swap drives into three standard 5.25-inch front bays. It targets server builders and storage administrators who need to maximise internal capacity without adding external enclosures. The tray-less mechanism accepts both SAS and SATA drives for flexible deployment.

Aluminium cooling and security

An integrated aluminium frame acts as a heatsink for each installed drive while a single 80 mm fan pulls air across the bays. A removable fan cover simplifies dust cleaning without tools. The front bezel includes a metal key lock that secures all four drives behind a silver aluminium door.

Daily service implications

Blue and purple LEDs show power status and drive activity at a glance. Hot-swap support allows drive replacement while the system runs, provided a compatible RAID controller is present. The unit measures 4.92 by 5.71 by 7.79 inches and supports drives up to 14 TB each.

Questions about this item

Does the 80 mm cooling fan need periodic cleaning or replacement?

The fan cover is removable for easy maintenance so the 80 mm fan can be cleaned or swapped without tools.

Will the 12 Gb/s transfer rate be limited by the backplane or the drives?

The backplane supports up to 12 Gb/s; actual throughput depends on the SAS or SATA drives installed.

How much heat and noise does the single 80 mm fan produce during continuous operation?

The aluminium chassis acts as a heatsink and the single 80 mm fan provides active cooling; noise and heat levels vary with drive load.
