Compatible MSI Workstations

This 150 W AC adapter fits the MSI WS72 6QJ and several related WS72 6QI models. It delivers 19.5 V at 7.7 A to match the original charger specification. The unit is sold new and includes both a 6 ft AC cord and a 6 ft DC cable.

Power Limits and Plug Constraint

The adapter accepts 100–240 V input at 50–60 Hz for worldwide use. Output is capped at 150 W with selectable 19.5 V 7.7 A, 20 V 7.5 A or 19 V rails. It cannot replace 180 W or 230 W units required by higher-power configurations. The barrel plug measures 5.5 mm with no centre pin.

Installation Notes

Connection is straightforward: attach the AC cord to the brick, plug the barrel tip into the laptop, then connect to mains power. The fixed 5.5 mm tip without a centre pin means the adapter will not fit laptops that require a pin-type connector. Users needing 180 W or 230 W input must source a different charger.

Questions about this item

Does the 150 W rating mean the adapter will also work with laptops that originally shipped with a 120 W charger?

Yes — the 150 W unit replaces both the 120 W and 150 W MSI chargers listed for the WS72 6QJ series. It does not replace the 180 W or 230 W models.

What does the 19.5 V / 7.7 A output actually deliver to the laptop in daily use?

It supplies up to 150 W at 19.5 V and 7.7 A, matching the WS72 6QJ’s factory power requirement so the system can run and charge at full speed.

The plug is described as a 5.5 mm tip without a centre pin — what does that mean for compatibility?

The 5.5 mm barrel connector has no centre pin, so it fits only WS72 6QJ variants that use that exact plug style; it will not fit models requiring a centre-pin connector.
