240W AC Adapter for MSI Katana and Pulse

This 240W AC adapter delivers 20V at 12A through a 4.5mm barrel connector with a centre pin. It is built as a direct replacement for the original chargers supplied with specific MSI Katana 15, Katana 17 and Pulse 16 AI laptops. The unit includes a UL-listed three-prong AC cord and a matching DC cord, each six feet long.

Power limit and connector constraint

The adapter is rated at 240W output and cannot replace MSI 280W, 300W or 330W chargers; systems that require those higher-wattage bricks will not operate correctly with this model. The 4.5mm tip with centre pin must match the laptop's DC-in jack exactly, so verify the port before ordering.

Deciding specification: 240W output rating

The single figure that determines fit is the 240W maximum output. If the laptop's original charger is rated at 240W, 230W, 200W or 180W this adapter will work; if the original is 280W or above it will not. Buyers needing more than 240W must source a higher-rated unit.

Questions about this item

Should I pick the 240W model or a lower-wattage 180W or 200W unit for my Katana 15?

Choose the 240W adapter; it replaces the 180W, 200W and 230W chargers listed for your Katana 15 HX models and delivers the full 20V 12A the laptop expects.

What does the 240W rating mean when the adapter is plugged into my Pulse 16 AI?

It means the brick can supply up to 20 volts at 12 amps continuously, so the Pulse 16 AI C1VGKG receives its maximum charging power while you game or render.

Does the 4.5 mm barrel connector with centre pin work on the Katana 17 HX B14WFK?

Yes — the 4.5 mm tip with centre pin matches the Katana 17 HX B14WFK charging port, and the 6 ft DC cord plus 6 ft AC cord give ample reach.
