Car charging for Dell laptops

This 65W auto adapter plugs into a 12V or 24V vehicle outlet and delivers 19.5V at 3.34A to compatible Dell notebooks. It replaces original 45W and 65W Dell chargers and is intended for drivers who need to power or charge their laptop while on the road. The unit is new and weighs 8.7 oz.

65W output with 45W backward compatibility

The adapter supplies up to 65W, covering Dell models that draw 45W or 65W from a 19.5V source. It does not support systems requiring a 90W brick, so buyers needing that higher wattage must look elsewhere. Input range spans 12V to 24V DC for use in cars and light trucks.

Right-angle connector and long cord

A 90-degree DC plug reduces strain on the laptop jack and the adapter tip, while the extended power cord lets the brick reach further inside the cabin. Built-in short-circuit and over-temperature protection plus a smart LED indicator round out the feature set. Dimensions are 3.94" x 1.57" x 1.18".

Questions about this item

Will this 65W car charger run my Dell that originally used a 45W adapter?

Yes, the adapter outputs 19.5V 3.34A up to 65W and replaces Dell 45W and 65W chargers; it does not replace a 90W unit.

How can I confirm the charger is operating correctly once plugged into the 12V socket?

A smart LED indicator lights up when the adapter receives 12–24V DC input and delivers 19.5V DC output to the laptop.

What comes in the box and do I need a separate cable for the cigarette lighter?

The package includes the car charger unit with an integrated long power cord and right-angle DC connector; no extra cable is required for the 12V outlet.
