What this adapter replaces

This 90 W DC car charger replaces genuine Dell 19.5 V 45 W, 65 W and 90 W adapters for Studio XPS, XPS and Vostro laptops. It plugs into a 12–24 V vehicle outlet and supplies 19 V at 4.74 A to power the notebook and charge its battery while driving.

The voltage match that matters

The critical specification is the 19 V output, which aligns with the Dell models listed including 1640, 1330, 1530, 2510, 3300 and 3500 series. Supplying a different voltage would prevent charging or risk damage, so this figure decides whether the unit is the correct part.

Capacity and headroom in use

At 90 W maximum the adapter comfortably runs a typical Dell laptop and replenishes its lithium-ion battery simultaneously. Headroom shrinks when the system draws peak load while charging a deeply discharged pack, and the unit is not intended for AC wall outlets or for laptops requiring higher wattage.

Questions about this item

Will the 90 W output actually run my Dell XPS 1640 while driving?

Yes, the adapter delivers up to 90 W at 19 V 4.74 A from a 12 – 24 V vehicle socket, matching the power draw of genuine 45 W, 65 W and 90 W Dell units.

What does the 12 – 24 V input range mean for everyday use?

It accepts standard 12 V car cigarette-lighter outlets and 24 V truck sockets, so the charger works in both passenger cars and heavier vehicles without extra converters.

How much room does the 4.33" x 1.69" x 1.18" brick need in my centre console?

The compact 9.7 oz housing fits easily in most consoles or door pockets, and the right-angle DC plug reduces strain on the laptop jack while the long cord reaches the passenger side.
