USB-C 2.5G Ethernet Adapter

The j5create JCE145 adds a wired RJ-45 port to any USB-C device, delivering 10M, 100M, 1G and 2.5G speeds. It draws power from the host port and requires no external supply. The aluminium housing fits in a laptop bag without adding bulk.

Travel workers and dock-free desks

Suits users who need a reliable wired link on ultra-portables that lack an Ethernet socket. Buyers whose hardware only offers USB 2.0 will not reach the adapter’s top rate. Anyone needing Wi-Fi or multi-gig wireless should look elsewhere.

2.5 Gbps RJ-45 over USB 3.0

The single spec that decides fit is the 2.5 Gbps Ethernet ceiling on a USB 3.0 interface. If your switch or router tops out at 1 Gbps the extra headroom goes unused. Match the port speed to your network plan before buying.

Questions about this item

Does the USB 3.0 interface limit the 2.5 Gbps Ethernet speed under sustained use?

The USB 3.0 connection provides enough bandwidth for the adapter's 2.5 Gbps Ethernet rating, so the link speed is not capped by the host interface.

Does the adapter generate noticeable heat or draw extra power when running all day?

The compact, bus-powered design runs without a fan and stays cool during continuous operation, drawing only the power supplied by the USB-C port.

What host port must my laptop already have for this adapter to work?

Your laptop needs an available USB-C or Thunderbolt port that supports data; the adapter is backwards compatible with USB 2.0 and 1.1 hosts.
