What it does and who needs it

This white adapter converts a USB 3.1 Type-C male plug into a Micro USB 2.0 female port. It lets you connect legacy Micro-B cables to newer phones, tablets and other devices that only have a Type-C socket for data sync and charging.

Installation and common issues

Simply insert the Type-C end into the device and plug your existing Micro USB cable into the female side. The reversible Type-C connector removes orientation guesswork. The only limitation is the Micro USB 2.0 interface, which caps transfer rates at 480 Mbit/s and cannot support USB 3.1 speeds.

Limits of the Micro USB 2.0 interface

Data throughput is restricted to 480 Mbit/s regardless of the host port capability. The adapter does not add power-delivery negotiation or video output.
