USB-A to USB-C cable with 80 W output

This cable connects a standard USB-A port to USB-C devices and delivers up to 80 watts of power. It supports Power Delivery, QC, AFC and FCP fast-charging protocols. A built-in E-Marker chip communicates the correct current to the charger. Data moves at USB 2.0 480 Mbps in both directions.

Interface limits and video support

The USB-A plug restricts the connection to USB 2.0 speeds, so large file transfers take longer than on USB 3.0 or higher links. The cable does not carry a video signal, so it cannot drive external displays or support alternate modes. A compatible fast-charging wall adapter is required to reach the rated power.

Charging capacity and device fit

At 80 W the cable can charge phones, tablets and many laptops such as MacBook Pro models to high levels in about 90 minutes. It tops out at 100 W maximum, so devices that draw more than that will not charge at full speed. The one-metre length suits desk or bedside use but may be short for distant sockets.

Questions about this item

Should I choose the 1m or 2m length for my setup?

The 1m cable is 3.3ft and suits desk use; the 2m option gives extra reach for bedside or sofa charging. Both share the same 7A current rating and 80W power delivery.

What does the 80W rating mean when I plug this into my laptop?

With a compatible PD charger the cable can deliver up to 80W, enough to charge a MacBook Pro to 90-100% in 1.5 hours and phones to 80% in 30 minutes.

Does the USB 2.0 480Mbps limit affect file transfers from my phone?

Yes, data moves at 480Mbps maximum, so large video backups take longer than on USB 3.x cables, but charging still reaches 80W.
