Capture resolution limits

The Jansicotek OZC1 accepts an HDMI signal up to 3840×2160 at 60 Hz but captures only up to 1920×1080 at 30 Hz over USB 2.0. It is aimed at streamers, educators or meeting hosts who need a simple way to bring a camera or console feed into OBS, VLC or Amcap on Windows, macOS or Linux.

Sustained capture behaviour

Because the USB 2.0 link caps throughput, the device cannot maintain 4K capture; it downscales to 1080p at 30 Hz during long sessions. The 8/10/12-bit deep-colour pipeline and L-PCM audio pass through without added latency, and the .4 A draw means no external power is required for continuous operation.

Installation and common issues

Plug the HDMI source into the single input, connect the supplied USB cable to a 2.0 port, and the UVC/UAC device appears in streaming software instantly. The 15-metre AWG26 cable limit applies at 1080p and below; longer runs or 4K sources may lose signal. No drivers are needed, but USB 3.0 ports on some laptops can cause detection problems.

Questions about this item

Does the Jansicotek OZC1 get warm or draw much power when capturing all day?

It draws a maximum working current of .4 A at 5 V DC and needs no external power supply, so heat and power draw stay low during extended use.

What cables or host ports do I already need to use the OZC1?

You need an HDMI source, an AWG 26 HDMI cable up to 15 m long, and a free USB 2.0 port on a Windows, macOS or Linux computer.

Will the OZC1 downscale my 4K camera cleanly for a 1080p stream in OBS?

Yes — it accepts 3840×2160 at 60 Hz input and outputs 1920×1080 at up to 60 Hz in YUV or JPEG, compatible with OBS and other UVC software.
