The decisive specification is the 48 Gbps throughput compliant with HDMI 2.1. This bandwidth carries 8K at 60 Hz, 4K at 120 Hz and 1080p at 240 Hz with full colour depth and HDR. Without this headroom the switch would fall back to lower refresh rates or chroma subsampling.
